Be Like Mike

What is this thing called motherhood? Why in life can something so beautiful be so damn hard? Hard but the most rewarding, the most fun, the most eventful (to say the least), the most emotional high you will ever be on, the never ending chaotic mess that your life becomes is all so beautiful. Isn’t it? How lucky are you to be able to call yourself a “mom”? VERY lucky! My sons name is Michael if you did not know and every morning, every single morning I wake up to his little squeal. I hear him babbling in his crib waiting for me to come say good morning and more importantly bring him a bottle. And every morning I walk into his room, I am greeted with the biggest, warmest, most inviting smile EVER. Instantly my day starts off right, how blessed I am to be able to be greeted every morning with the innocence of a newborn child (almost one but a favorite song has this as their lyric).

Every morning I see that smiling face of excitement I think to myself, I need to be more ‘like Mike’. Some may think Michael Jordan, but I am talking about my wonderful happy baby, Michael. Strive to be “like Mike”. If we all started our day out with the warmest welcome in the entire world and the innocence of faith in the universe to bring on whatever the day may bring I believe we would all be much more satisfied with how great our life really is. You only get one you know. This thing called life. How are you doing yours? Are you playing it safe or are you taking the risks and pushing your own limits to fulfill your soul? Either way, you will NEVER get the time back, so I suggest figuring it out TODAY! This is one of the biggest ways for me to come back down on level ground. Remembering how insignificant a fight 5 years ago with someone was over something just as insignificant, I get over it and move on. I forgive that person for myself and my sanity and move forward. If I am feeling down I give myself a 5-minute pity party, then I put on some feel good upbeat music and dance. Why? Dancing is a great form of releasing endorphins and I love to dance! After having Michael, I ALWAYS had oldies on, like always. After moving to a city and knowing NO ONE it was really really hard as a new mom with no help, no girlfriends, no social engagement besides Michael and eventually a couple hours after Kevin got home. I thrived on my music. I also constantly reminded myself I needed to get outside and soak up some rays with Michael. Sunshine is a natural way to feel happy btw. All you need is 20-30 minutes! Once one of these activities has taken place I usually come out of my “mom funk” and press on to be more “like Mike”.

If you have been in a funk lately I highly suggest making every effort to get outside for just 20 minutes at least! It will do wonders on your health, mentally and emotionally! So back to my original question, what is this thing called motherhood? We morph into these amazing, strong, fearless, protective, intuitive beings that love unconditionally. Motherhood is the most precious gift a woman could ever be given and yet so unexplainable to anyone who isn’t a mom. To those mommas about to be a mom, welcome to club and make sure to check out my postpartum posts to help you get through those crazy amazing times! If you already are a momma, what is your answer to motherhood? If you have been feeling down lately momma or know of a mom who has, honestly, treat her to The Mommy Pockets Box. IT is exactly what ANY mom needs no matter what stage, phase, or period she is going through, and it WILL cheer you up. Today, go outside and get some fresh air!  You need it and so does your little one. Did you know they benefit just as much as you do (they are human)? As always beautiful, cheers!
