Easy Delicious Acai Bowl Recipe

As we are getting into the summer season, WOOHOO, it is time to start enjoying some of the great healthy summer snacks and meals! One of my favorite discoveries of all time, seriously though, is an Acai bowl! They are soooo yummy!! And better than just yummy, they are packed with all-natural benefits for you. You can find them at smoothie shops mostly and local coffee shops at least here in California, but most places are charging a high rate for one of these amazing creations. Totally worth it too. However, I have a fantastic recipe for you to enjoy an Acai bowl at home! YAY! There are many different ways you can go about creating an acai bowl, but I am going to give you the most nutural palette concoction. If you like peanut butter, add some into the acai mix (oh my gosh best idea EVER) to give it a good protein kick.

What you will need:

  • 1 pack of frozen Acai (usually found at Whole Foods) But you can find this in most frozen fruit sections of grocery stores now
  • Agave nectar or 100% organic honey
  • Bananas
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Granola
  • Almond milk

First, you can add whatever types of fruit you like, these are the most common you will find in places and always mix well together. Make sure you rinse your fruits well before using. 1). Take you Acai packet and put it into a blender, mix with 2-3 strawberries and ½ of a banana. Use ¼ cup of almond milk and blend. Should come out like an extra thick smoothie. 2). Pour your extra think smoothie into a bowl. 3). Take 2-3 more strawberries and slice them vertically. Slice your remaining banana up as well. 4). Place them on top of the smoothie blend around the edge of the bowl. Then add about ½ cup of blueberries in the center. 5). Add you choice of amount of granola. Personally I love crunchy things, so I always add extra granola but the standard should be about ½ – 2/3 cup. Lastly, drizzle your agave nectar or honey over the top of your beautiful acai bowl and you are ready to eat!

The acai bowl is a great and healthy meal for the summer time. It is a higher carb and sugar count but these are GOOD carbs and sugars. The potassium, anti-oxidants, super foods, and so many other good for you ingredients outweigh the carb count. Usually after eating an acai bowl, I am hungry again within a few hours (unless I add a protein like peanut butter). You know, the same feeling with sushi. Or is that just me… because I can bash some sushi!
